‘Free speech zone’ set up along presidential parade route

Folks, Bush did this too….there is NO such thing as “Free Speech Zones”, they are unconstitutional …..ALL of America is a Free Spreech Zone. It just keeps opposition away from the president, therefore insulating him from reality and violating the Constitution’s 1st amendment.

President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama stepped out of their limousine in downtown D.C., following the longstanding tradition of the president strolling for a portion of his inaugural parade down the city’s main boulevard.

The Obamas stepped out of their car near the intersection of 8th Street and Pennsylvania Ave NW, near the US National Archives and Records Administration building.

The first couple walked past the FBI building, before stepping back into the limousine before reaching Freedom Plaza.

Freedom Plaza is the site of one of the only authorized demonstration zones, where a strip of the plaza is designated a free speech zone.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

FLASHBACK 2006: Obama Calls Debt Ceiling Increase a ‘Sad State of Affairs

Comments Off on FLASHBACK 2006: Obama Calls Debt Ceiling Increase a ‘Sad State of Affairs

“We are voting on the budget today,” Obama said at a March 16, 2006 event. “It’s a sad state of affairs. We just voted to increase the debt limit. The U.S. total debt at this point exceeds $8 trillion. That’s 8 trillion with a ‘T.’ So we’ve got to get our fiscal house in order here in Washington. I’m not sure it’s going to happen under the current leadership in Congress.”

Sounding the same themes of class warfare that propelled his re-election campaign, President Barack Obama devoted his second inaugural address to laying out his second term agenda: a struggle to undo the seeming injustices of America’s past, and to overcome the army of straw men that stand in opposition to progress.

Here’s a comment from one of the commentors on the poll below:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear.”

As President Barack Obama prepares for his inauguration, Breitbart News sat down with radio talk show host Mark Levin, the bestselling author of the blockbusters Liberty and Tyranny, Ameritopia, Men in Black, and Rescuing Sprite. Levin painted a stark picture of the reality facing the country – the rise of tyranny – but he also offered hope in one word: “fight.”

“I don’t think Obama knows exactly what he’s going to go for in his second term,” Levin said, “as he will look for opportunities to exploit as events unfold.  I am sure they’ve drawn up a partial a list, and we already know that it includes, but is not limited to, gun control; attacks on the First Amendment such as religious liberty; amnesty for illegal aliens; union expansion; institutionalizing Obamacare; institutionalizing voter corruption; de-industrialization via the EPA; destroying the capitalist-based economy via tax increases, smothering regulations, massive deficit spending, and endless borrowing; and hollowing out our military; etc.  This will effect all of us. It will do extreme damage to the nation in many respects. I think Obama sees himself as correcting historic wrongs in this country, as delivering the fruits of the labor of other people to people who he believes have historically been put upon. I think there’s a lot of perverse thinking that goes on in his mind, radical left-wing thinking. He was indoctrinated with Marx and Alinksy propaganda.  You not only see it in his agenda but in his words — class warfare; degrading successful people unless, of course, they help finance his elections, causes, and organizations; pretending to speak for the so-called middle class when, in fact, he is destroying their jobs, savings, and future.  Obama’s war on our society is intended to be an onslaught in which the system is overwhelmed.”

How to fight that agenda? Levin said the answer certainly doesn’t lie in the current Republican Party leadership. “I think the Republican Party, its apparatus, its so-called leadership, the parasitic consultants, represent an institution that is tired, old, almost decrepit, full of cowardice and vision-less.  It has abandoned the Declaration of Independence and any serious defense of constitutional republicanism.  The Democrat Party is now a radical 1960s party; it’s the anti-Constitution, anti-capitalism, anti-individual party.  It largely controls the federal government, including the massive bureaucracy and much of the judiciary — what I call the permanent branches of the federal government.  The Democrat Party represents the federal government, and the federal government expands the power of the Democrat Party.  They’re appendages of each other.  On the other hand, the GOP today stands for capitulation, timidity, delusion — so mostly nothing.  Republicans may speak of the Constitution, limited government, low taxes, etc., but what have they done about them?  Next to nothing if not nothing.  Even when Bush 43 was president and the Republicans controlled Congress.  What did they do?  They went on a spending binge.  They expanded Medicare, the federal role in local education, drove up the debt, etc.  Meanwhile, we are lectured by putative Republicans like Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Tom Ridge, and a conga line of others trashing often viciously NOT Obama and what the Democrats are doing to our nation, but conservatives, constitutionalists, and tea party activists who are the only people left standing for liberty against tyranny in this country.”

But, said Levin, the answer isn’t to start a third party – “The problem is a practical one.  If we go third party, I can see the Democrats winning elections for a generation.  Given the radicalized character of that party, that would seal our fate, and the fate of our children and grandchildren to, as Reagan put it, 1000 years of darkness.  The day may come, perhaps soon, when abandoning the GOP for a new party is the best way to deal with events and stop the rise of tyranny.  I think the answer at this moment is for conservatives to retake the Republican Party.  Reagan did it, and Reagan was opposed by the Republican establishment every step of the way, including the Bush family. But this is a constant fight, just as fighting the Democrats is a constant fight. After the Reagan presidency, Bush 41 and Bush 43, who’d opposed the Reagan Revolution, immediately dragged the nation back into the Republican mush. In fact, they sought to distance themselves from Reagan and his achievements, using such silly phrases as “a kinder and gentler” conservatism or “compassionate conservatism,” as if all the opportunities, wealth, jobs, and enterprises Reagan’s policies launched were neither kind nor compassionate.  There is an intransigence in the Republican Party that sabotages and obstructs those who have answers for this nation based on our founding principles.  And so we had a brief eight-year period where Reagan showed us the way and created a foundation on which future Republican presidents could build, and they haven’t.  They invoke Reagan because he is beloved by the American people, but they reject his principles and policies.  Keep in mind, George W. Bush was the most profligate spender in world history until Obama came along; the Tea Party grew out of the last months of Bush 43 and the early months of the Obama presidency. Yet Bush administration staffers are everywhere today: the media, advising candidates, leading fundraisers, etc. And they arrogantly and condescendingly lecture conservatives about responsible, moderate governance.  They also cheerlead for more establishment candidates, like John McCain, Mitt Romney, and the like, who are not only sure losers, but have no grasp of the urgency of our times and the principled agenda necessary to address it.  Meanwhile, the Reagan and traditional conservatives, the constitutionalists and the tea party leaders, are all but unheard and unseen on TV, even some of our favorite outlets.”

Top aide: Obama seeks to split Republican Party into warring factions before 2014 midterm election

Comments Off on Top aide: Obama seeks to split Republican Party into warring factions before 2014 midterm election

President Barack Obama’s top political aide used an Inauguration Day interview to sketch out a provocative political strategy intended to split the Republican Party in time to impact the 2014 midterm elections.

“The barrier to progress here in many respects, whether it is deficits, measures to help economy, immigration, gun safety legislation … is [that] there are factions here in Congress, Republicans in Congress, who are out of the mainstream,” White House advisor David Plouffe said on CNN’s “State of the Union with Candy Crowley.”

“We need more Republicans in Congress to think like Republicans in the country who are seeking compromise, seeking balance,” he claimed.

Plouffe’s statement likely will strengthen the GOP’s consensus that Obama is seeking confrontation prior to 2014, not bipartisan cooperation to spur the stalled U.S. economy.

That consensus was highlighted at the GOP’s conclave in Williamsburg, Va., where House leaders and members agreed to back away from a looming debt-ceiling clash with Obama. Instead, they rallied behind their leaders and decided to emphasize a cautious strategy that scaled back their goals to ensure they keep their House majority in 2014, according to media reports.

GOP leaders had expected a re-elected Obama would want to focus on the economy, reducing the nation’s high unemployment-rate — roughly 24 million Americans are unemployed or underemployed — and curbing the government’s growing debt.

Instead, since his re-election Obama has picked fights on budgets, guns, immigration and Cabinet nominees; he has spurned compromise and used his White House perch — and allied news media — to claim the GOP is a captive of an extremist minority.

Obama’s likely goal is to recapture the House of Representatives in 2014, both to accelerate government’s growth and to claim public support for expansions of government spending and influence in people’s lives.

An agressive political strategy in dealing with Republicans has already been endorsed by major media figures including CBS “Face the Nation” host Bob Schieffer and CBS political director John Dickerson.

House GOP Caves Again: unveils bill to suspend the debt ceiling until May 19

Comments Off on House GOP Caves Again: unveils bill to suspend the debt ceiling until May 19

House Republicans on Monday unveiled legislation that will suspend the debt ceiling until May 19, setting the stage for a floor vote as soon as Wednesday.

While past measures to address the debt limit have simply increased the borrowing cap, the House bill would actually suspend the debt limit until May 19. On that date, the debt limit would be automatically increased from $16.4 trillion to accommodate whatever additional borrowing the Treasury had done during that time frame.

The arrangement provides some political cover for Republican lawmakers, since they will not be required to vote for a specific dollar amount that could be used against them in campaign ads.

The House Rules Committee posted the text of the legislation as Washington prepared for President Obama’s second inauguration. In addition to preventing default, the bill would withhold members’ pay if Congress fails to pass a budget by April 15.

The Rules Committee will hold an emergency meeting to discuss the legislation Tuesday, setting up a vote as soon as Wednesday on the House floor.

House Republican leaders are using the bill to put pressure on Senate Democrats to pass a budget, which they have failed to do for over four years.

“Before there is any long-term debt-limit increase, a budget should be passed that cuts spending,” Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told the Republican Conference on Friday in remarks to close the party’s three-day retreat in Williamsburg. “The Democratic-controlled Senate has failed to pass a budget for four years. That is a shameful run that needs to end, this year.”

Leading Senate Democrats have said they will produce a budget resolution that will include increased revenues, and will consider the debt-limit boost set to come from the House.

Gun Bill Suicide for Dems Seeking Re-election

Comments Off on Gun Bill Suicide for Dems Seeking Re-election

Republican Sen. John Barrasso said he doubts Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will bring most of Obama’s anti-Second Amendment proposals to the floor this session.

“He has six Democrats up for election in two years in states where the president received fewer than 42 percent of the votes,” Barrasso said on CNN. “And he doesn’t want his Democrats to have to choose between their own constituents and the president’s positions.”

Barrasso said Americans are more worried about the economy and the national debt despite CNN’s Candy Crowley’s assertion that they are fixated on rolling back the Second Amendment.

Although White House senior adviser David Plouffe believes outlawing firearms will be a tough sell, he told CNN it remains at the top of Obama’s political to-do list.

“I think there are 60 votes in the Senate, 218 votes in the House, if the process can just play itself out and we can really get votes on some of these things,” Plouffe said. “But it’s going to be hard work.”

On Saturday, former president Bill Clinton, who forced the first so-called assault weapons ban on the American people, told Democrat insiders Obama’s anti-Second Amendment push may amount to suicide for Democrats.

Clinton told a joint meeting of the Obama National Finance Committee and a group of business leaders that passing the 1994 federal assault weapons ban took out over a dozen Democrats in the 1994 midterms and sent then-Speaker of the House Tom Foley packing.

“Do not patronize the passionate supporters of your opponents by looking down your nose at them,” Clinton warned Democrat activists and financiers. “A lot of these people live in a world very different from the world lived in by the people proposing these things. I know because I come from this world.”

“A lot of these people … all they’ve got is their hunting and their fishing,” he said. “Or they’re living in a place where they don’t have much police presence. Or they’ve been listening to this stuff [advocacy for the Second Amendment] for so long that they believe it all.”

NY Democrat pleads with Republican not to share document proposing confiscation of guns

Comments Off on NY Democrat pleads with Republican not to share document proposing confiscation of guns

A New York Assemblyman has pleaded with his Republican colleague not to release a list of Democrat proposals on gun control that seek to undermine the 2nd Amendment. (This is also what Diane Feinstein and other Dems wanted to do nationwide as well, but backed down on the proposal.)

The State of New York this week passed some of the strictest gun control laws in the United States, effectively outlawing ‘assault weapons’ and limiting the size of magazines.

But if Republican Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin is to be believed, the New York State Democrats would have gone further if they could have. Much, much further.

In a video posted to his Facebook page, McLaughlin has shared the information of a ‘secret’ Democrat proposal not simply to make the purchasing of the crudely monikered ‘assault weapons’ illegal in New York, but also to engage in a mass confiscation programme, removing Americans’ weapons from their possession.

McLaughlin writes:

“Here it is. This is the video where I was asked to keep the Democrat proposals for the NY SAFE Act away from the public. This list was given to me by a colleague and it is not confidential.

This bill was an attack on the 2nd amendment and the Democrats clearly wanted to dismantle the work of the Founding Fathers. None of these amendments were included in the final bill thanks to us fighting back. I will not stand silent while these unpatriotic proposals are pathetically thrown at us a 11 o’clock at night”:

On his Facebook page, McLaughlin went ahead and released the list:

“Here it is. This is the video where I was asked to keep the Democrat proposals for the NY SAFE Act away from the public. This list was given to me by a colleague and it is not confidential.

This bill was an attack on the 2nd amendment and the Democrats clearly wanted to dismantle the work of the Founding Fathers. None of these amendments were included in the final bill thanks to us fighting back. I will not stand silent while these unpatriotic proposals are pathetically thrown at us a 11 o’clock at night:

1. Confiscation of “assault weapons”
2. Confiscation o ten round clips
3. Statewide database for ALL Guns
4. Continue to allow pistol permit holder’s information to be replaced to the public
5. Label semiautomatic shotguns with more than 5 rounds or pistol grips as “assault weapons”
6. Limit the number of rounds in a magazine to 5 and confiscation and forfeiture of banned magazines
7. Limit possession to no more than two (2) magazines
8. Limit purchase of guns to one gun per person per month
9. Require re-licensing of all pistol permit owners
10. Require renewal of all pistol permits every five years
11. State issued pistol permits
12. Micro-stamping of all guns in New York State
13. Require licensing of all gun ammo dealers
14. Mandatory locking of guns at home
15. Fee for licensing, registering weapons”

And people scoff at conservatives like Rush who have been saying for years that Democrats want to confiscate weapons.
