McCain to betray conservatives on gun rights….again

Comments Off on McCain to betray conservatives on gun rights….again

Perhaps the most controversial part of McCain’s political record has been in the area of gun rights. And consequently, this has been the source of most of the anger conservatives have directed toward the senator.

Through the years McCain has managed to garner the worst grade possible on gun rights from Gun Owners of America, which rates him at “F-.” The NRA, which has a much more lenient rating system, gives McCain a “B+,” but most conservatives say that the NRA grade is highly misleading. The Gun Owners of America rating for McCain is much closer to the real truth.

Today McCain announced that universal background checks is picking up broad support from both Parties in the U.S. Senate and indicated that he will support the proposal. (No we don’t want universal background checks!!! Period!!!)

Although many Americans seem on the surface to support the concept of universal background checks, a closer look reveals that few actually understand the proposal and what it will do.

The United States already has the closest thing to universal background checks that one can reasonably expect from a burgeoning bureaucracy. All federal licensed gun dealers are required by law to run such checks each time a gun is sold. Even most vendors at gun shows are also required by law to do background checks.

So why is this issue suddenly so important when the nation already has in place a system for checking for the criminal and mental health history of potential gun buyers? And why is this issue being promoted as an answer to “gun violence” when mass shooters such as Sandy Hook murderer Adam Lanza are largely prevented from getting their guns legally due to background checks?

Lanza, it is to be remembered, stole his mother’s weapons, which he never would have gotten had his mother exercised appropriate precaution and locked up her guns, given that a lunatic lived in the house.

The answer lies in what the present push for universal background checks actually does. Very few of the guns sold in America today are done so apart from background checks, and those that are sold without the checks are transferred citizen to citizen either through a private sale or transaction, a gift, or an heirloom handed down from one generation to another.

In short, the only reason universal background checks are being pushed as if there is a dire national emergency is that the government wants private gun sales banned. It does not want the individual citizen to have the right to sell his gun to another citizen. It does not want the individual citizen to be able to give a gun as a gift to a loved one or a friend. And it does not want the individual citizen to be able to hand down a beloved firearm to a son, daughter, or grandchild.

This law, thus, is a direct attack on the freedom of the individual citizen to do what they want with their own property — a concept that has been a staple of this free nation since its inception. And this is why gun owners and conservatives are so vehement in their opposition to “universal background checks.”

Woe be unto any Republican who votes in favor of this tyrannical law. They will be targets for defeat in the next election.

Constitutionalists do not look kindly on politicians, or anyone else for that matter, who will use an issue like background checks as a clever ruse for trampling all over the individual rights of citizens in what was once a free country.

If Gov’t Can Make Bullets Disappear From Stores, Why Can’t It Make Food And Medicine?

Comments Off on If Gov’t Can Make Bullets Disappear From Stores, Why Can’t It Make Food And Medicine?

I know some of you folks don’t shoot, but to the many of you who do, I would like to pose a question.

Have you tried to purchase any ammunition lately?

All calibers are disappearing from store shelves, but .22 long rifles, in bulk, can’t be found at all anywhere, even the most dependable internet super dealers are out of stock and are making no promises about when they’ll be available again, and it’s my opinion that soon the same thing will be true about the other calibers.

I readily admit that one of the reasons is that Barack Obama’s outright war on guns, the “feel good” juvenile antics of Governor Cuomo of New York and the childish Democrats in the Missouri and Wisconsin state legislatures have scared legal gun owners into stockpiling ammunition, justly fearing that it will get hard, if not impossible to get.

But, can somebody please tell me why Homeland Security and many other, supposedly benign government agencies have bought over two billion rounds and are ordering millions more of all calibers, even the smaller ones?

Why does a shoot-to-kill outfit like Homeland Security need tiny caliber bullets like .22’s that are made for hunting small game? Is Homeland Security going to start exterminating squirrels or rabbits, and why does an agency like Social Security need any kind of ammunition?

Is this a back door attempt at gun control, a way around a Congress that is scared to death of gun legislation? Another presidential backstreet move to have his way by hook or crook and blame it on free market demand? Just dry up the ammo and the guns will be useless?

My information is that the manufacturers are straining every nerve trying to keep up with the demand, but with Homeland Security commandeering so much of their production, the task is impossible.

Is this the beginning of the weaning of America?

It’s a scary scenario, but let me relate an even scarier one.

If the government can make bullets disappear from store shelves, why couldn’t it make food disappear, or fuel or medicine, or anything else for that matter?

The point being that big government can do just about anything they want to and there’s little the minority of us who fear it can do about it as long as the majority who don’t fear it keeps tripping down the primrose path with their heads in the clouds and their hands out.

There is a little known piece of legislation that passed Congress a while back called The Food Safety Modernization Act and the provisions are shadowy at best, having to do with agriculture and the production of food in America.

I checked into it when I found out about it only to find the bill had just cleared the Senate and was on President Obama’s desk. What struck me as strange was the fact that our two Tennessee Senators were split on the vote; Bob Corker voted against it and Lamar Alexander voted for it.

I was assured by Senator Alexander’s office that “Senator Alexander would never do anything to hurt the farmers.” Well, does that mean that Senator Corker would do something to hurt the farmers by voting against it? Which means that one of the Senators voted against the farmers of Tennessee. Which one?

The provisions of the bill are said to protect the food supply, but what does that mean when it’s taken out of government speak and translated into plain English?

Personally, I believe the government has taken upon itself the power to interrupt agriculture at any time it chooses under the guise of keeping tainted or otherwise unsafe food out of the market – up to, and including, the planting and harvesting of private home gardens.

The flow of medicine could easily be interrupted by claiming it contained impurities and harmful substances.

We’ve already seen how fuel can be rationed – just slow down the availability and delivery.

Big government can bring this nation to its knees in a matter of days. And, with a passive Senate and an ever more acquiescent Supreme Court, the power to do so is falling into the hands of one man.

Shaky ground for a free nation.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops and the peace of Jerusalem.

God Bless America

Baltimore County Police Chief Misleads America About Assault Weapons “On the Street”

Comments Off on Baltimore County Police Chief Misleads America About Assault Weapons “On the Street”

Nearly three weeks ago, Baltimore County Police Chief James Johnson testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee about what America can do to stop gun violence. During his testimony, he stressed the importance of the reinstatement of an assault weapons ban.

“The ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines must be reinstated. Like assault weapons, high-capacity magazines are not used for hunting, do not belong in our homes and wreak havoc in our communities,” Johnson said.

After the hearing Johnson told reporters, “Police officers face these weapons either in seizure cases or crimes of violence everyday. Dozens of police officers have lost their lives due to an assault weapon and a criminal adversary.”

According to a Baltimore County Police Department report obtained and requested by Townhall, Johnson misled the public with his statement about assault weapons seizures. Townhall requested detailed documentation of weapons retrieved by Baltimore County Police Officers between October 1, 2012 and January 30, 2013, the day of Johnson’s testimony. The department provided data from September 28, 2012 through February 5, 2013. The report not only shows that firearms aren’t being seized on the streets “everyday” in Baltimore County, but that assault weapons in particular are hardly ever found in criminal seizures.

Out of approximately 600 guns seized only 26 of them were assault weapons under the Clinton era definition, of which included AR-15s, a few AKs/SKSs and a TEC-22. Less than 5 percent of guns seized in Baltimore County are assault weapons, despite Chief Johnson’s statement to the press and implied statements before Congress.

Obama admits his policies are making energy more expensive

Comments Off on Obama admits his policies are making energy more expensive

This man is destroying America every chance he gets…..”Under my plan electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket,” Barack Obama 2008

Obama admits that his policies are making energy more expensive – all in the name of Climate Change and reducing carbon emissions for a problem that doesn’t exist:

WASHINGTON EXAMINER – President Obama acknowledged that his preferred climate change policies make energy “a little more expensive,” but he suggested that the initial cost is worth the long-term reward of lowering carbon emissions. (which is a UN agenda and is making Al Gore filthy rich off a lie)

“I have to tell you that there are some Democrats, for example, who represent states or districts that are heavily reliant on old power plants and are more heavily manufacturing based,” Obama said during his Google+ hangout on Friday. “And the truth is that if you produce power using old power plants, you’re going to be emitting more carbon, but, to upgrade those plants means energy is going to be a little more expensive, at least on the front end.”

The president said it’s his job to convince people to “take actions now where the benefits are going to be coming down the road — or at least avoiding big problems down the road — and it’s hard when people are thinking about day to day issues.”

The Institute for Energy Research predicts that an Environmental Protection Agency rule targeting those old power plants will shut down ten percent of the country’s coal production.

More than 34 gigawatts (GW) of electrical generating capacity are now set to retire because of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Mercury and Air Toxics Rule (colloquially called Utility MACT)[1] and the Cross State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR)[2] regulations.” IER said. “Most of these retirements will come from coal-fired power plants, shuttering over 10 percent of the U.S.’s coal-fired generating capacity.”

Joseph Stalin’s firearms confiscation was a tremendous success for the Socialist state.

Under the Tsar, Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth. That all changed when Stalin and the communists took control.  Stalin was able to control, starve, punish and imprison a defenseless people… after he took their guns. (Zinnfigur)

But that could never happen in the United States, right?

Or maybe not…
In this short video by the NRA, an internal Justice Department (the same Justice Department ran by Eric ‘Fast and Furious’ Holder), it is revealed that the Obama administration’s own research shows that an assault weapons ban would only be effective with mandatory gun confiscation and that universal background checks would only be effective with federal gun registration.

In their January 4, 2013 document, Summary of Select Firearm Violence Prevention Strategies, the Obama Justice Department admitted that an assault weapons ban would not be effective without confiscation and gun registration.

The Gateway Pundit

A just-released internal memo from the Obama administration’s own Department of Justice says an “assault weapons ban is unlikely to have an impact on violence. If coupled with a gun buyback and no exemptions (confiscation)  then it could be effective.”

According to Gateway Pundit, “Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth until Joseph Stalin took control. Stalin was able to control, starve, punish and imprison a defenseless people … after he took their guns.”

A mandatory gun buyback program is a major step towards Barack Hussein Obama seizing our guns.
But there’s more … lots more.

President Obama is also proposing universal background checks in conjunction with a national gun registration that the National Rifle Association calls “illegal abuse of privacy and freedom unprecedented in our history.”

The move prompted one grassroots patriot to write, “Participating in a gun buyback because you believe that the criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because you believe that the neighbors have too many kids.”

At a time when Mr. Obama is stomping around the nation touting his gun-control agenda — and the liberal media is slanting their coverage by an astounding margin of 8 to 1 in favor of the President’s anti-gun crusade — it’s obvious what’s happening in our society right now.

Obama, who’s on record saying he doesn’t think anyone should own a gun, has an agenda that he’s trying his hardest to implement. He will take our guns, and he’s relying on the media to sell it to the American people!

P.S. Don’t let Obama confiscate your guns or the rights guaranteed to you under the Second Amendment. Take a stand and let your voice be heard! Go here now to sign Grassfire’s “I Support the Second Amendment” petition, so we can include your in our next delivery on Capitol Hill.
