A conservative political action committee today begins running radio ads that say U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander “refuses to join the fight” to “defund Obamacare” — a proposal pushed by some Republicans while ridiculed by others, including U.S. Sen. Bob Corker.
“Obamacare is a job killer, yet Lamar Alexander refuses to do what it takes to stop funding of this liberal train wreck,” says a line in the ad sponsored by Senate Conservatives Fund. The group said in a news release that it is paying $45,900 to air the ad on radio stations statewide.
An Alexander aide noted Wednesday that the senator signed as a co-sponsor of defunding legislation sponsored by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. But the senator has stopped short of a pledge to vote against any federal appropriations bill that includes money for the Affordable Care Act.
