US Regulators Look Into Timing of Trades After Fed Statement

Comments Off on US Regulators Look Into Timing of Trades After Fed Statement

U.S. regulators are looking into how trading in financial instruments linked to gold in New York and Chicago occurred so quickly after the release of a Federal Reserve statement in Washington last week.

“It’s standard practice to look at moves like this from a surveillance perspective,” Bart Chilton, a Democratic commissioner at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said in a statement today.

The Federal Reserve is asking news organizations to review their procedures for publishing stories based on central bank releases from so-called lock-ups, according to David Skidmore, a Fed spokesman.

Trading in gold futures and exchange-traded funds linked to gold intensified within 1 millisecond of 2 p.m. eastern time on Sept. 18, when the Fed released a statement saying it would refrain from tapering its $85 billion in monthly bond purchases, according to Nanex LLC, a firm that analyzes high-frequency trading.

The quick response is unusual because information takes seven milliseconds to travel to Chicago from Washington, where the Fed statement is released, according to Nanex. The time between Washington and New York is two milliseconds, Nanex said. The trading wasn’t possible unless the statement had been available in those financial centers before the 2 p.m. embargo time in Washington, Nanex said.

House GOP may attach Obamacare delay to CR

Comments Off on House GOP may attach Obamacare delay to CR

This from Politico of all places…..we better watch Boehner with one eye while everyone else is watching Ted Cruz’s filibuster.

The House Republican leadership is seriously considering attaching a one-year delay of Obamacare’s individual mandate to the Senate bill to avert a government shutdown, according to senior GOP aides.

If House Republicans decide to go this route, it would all but provoke a government shutdown, since Senate Democrats might not even schedule a vote on a bill that includes that provision, Senate leadership staffers say. Even if the Senate schedules a vote, there might not be time to move the legislation through the slow-moving chamber.

The House Republican leadership is planning its next move as it becomes abundantly clear that Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) gambit to defund Obamacare will fall short. The federal government is set to shut down Tuesday unless a new funding bill is enacted, and the Senate might not even send a bill to the House until Sunday — leaving a hot potato on Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) lap hours before a government shutdown. The Senate bill will fund the government through Nov. 15

Pentagon: Military pay would be delayed in shutdown

Comments Off on Pentagon: Military pay would be delayed in shutdown

This is an outright lie….under Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan when the gov’t was shutdown the military got paid. If this happens, you can blame the Obama State Dept. The CR passed by the House would fund all aspects of government except Obamacare. If the government shuts down, it will because Obama didn’t get his way and chose to not pay the military.

Service members would remain on duty and work without pay if a government shutdown occurs, the Pentagon said Monday.

Pentagon press secretary George Little said told reporters Monday that all service members would continue to work in the event of a government shutdown, but they would not receive their paychecks until the shutdown ends.

“They may not be paid on their regular payday,” Little said.

Civilian Pentagon employees, however, would not receive retroactive pay without a “legislative fix” by Congress, Little said.

The Pentagon is still determining which civilian employees would work under a shutdown, depending on whether they are deemed essential employees.

Making preparations for a government shutdown has become a familiar exercise for the Pentagon and the rest of the federal government, after a shutdown was narrowly averted in 2011.

As the 2011 shutdown was looming, Pentagon officials said that roughly half of its civilians would be furloughed, a plan the Defense Department is likely to follow this time around.

Little said that all civilian employees would show up next Tuesday, the day the government would shut down if a funding measure isn’t passed. Those who aren’t exempt would then be sent home.

If the government shuts down, it would amount to a second round of furloughs for many Pentagon civilians this year, as most civilian employees were furloughed for six days in the summer under the Pentagon’s sequestration budget cuts.

Breaking: Door-To-Door Identity Theft Likely Under Obamacare

Comments Off on Breaking: Door-To-Door Identity Theft Likely Under Obamacare

September 24, 2013

Similar to how the Transportation Security Administration attracts pedophiles with jobs providing easy access to children, Obamacare will attract identity thieves with jobs allowing them to go door-to-door to preach the “virtues” of Obamacare while extracting private information from Americans in their own homes.

Under Obamacare, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is implementing a “Navigator” program, which provides millions of dollars to non-profit groups nationwide to hire “Navigators” who will advise Americans on their Obamacare health “options” based on the sensitive information provided.

This sensitive information includes social security numbers, income levels, employment history and home addresses, all of which are more than enough to steal Americans’ identities for complete access to their credit and financial resources.

In a Sept. 20 letter to HHS, the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce asked the department to respond to its concerns over the “rushed implementation” of its Navigator program, including plans by non-profit groups to “engage in enrollment activities that increase the likelihood of fraud or abuse, including door-to-door contacts.”

“The recipient of one of the largest Navigator grants explained in their application that they expected a substantial portion of their program to involve door-to-door contacts,” the letter stated. “Another described their work plan as involving ‘door-to-door outreach to 10,000 households per week.’”

The letter further emphasized that government officials had “confidence” Navigators would not go door-to-door to enroll Americans in Obamacare.

This confidence appears unfounded considering that identity thieves will likely be lured to the Navigator jobs, which allow easy access to sensitive information, pay an estimated $20 to $48 an hour and do not even require a background check.

White House sends out email bashing Congressional Republicans

Comments Off on White House sends out email bashing Congressional Republicans

As you read this email realize that the White House is once again heaping all the blame onto the Republicans for being rabble rousers and fighting a battle that they wish was given up on a long time ago. Nowhere does it mention that Congress is except from ObamaCare, or that Unions are lining up in droves to get out from under the onerous law. The email doesn’t mention the countless businesses that are laying off workers, cutting hours, or dropping health care plans ahead of the law’s implementation. Nor does it bring up that the majority of Americans want ObamaCare gone.

Instead, they would rather the low information voter who gets the White House emails to believe that Boehner and the evil “Wacko-Bird” Republicans are hell bent on shutting down the government and go so far as to say that it was their fault that our credit rating was downgraded. Soon we will be hearing about children starving in the streets and grannies going of cliff, all because of these reckless Republicans…

Maybe the White House should look into the mirror. But alas they do not. After all, it was Obama who once said, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.” Well maybe you take those words off the teleprompter and apply them to your White House, Mr. President. Defunding ObamaCare is change that Americans do believe in.

Ex Royal Marine with a handgun saved 100 lives as terrorists ran amok

A former marine emerged as a hero of the Nairobi siege yesterday after he was credited with saving up to 100 lives.

The ex soldier was having coffee at the Westgate mall when it was attacked by Islamists on Saturday.

With a gun tucked into his waistband, he was pictured helping two women from the complex.

His story emerged as sporadic gunfire continued to ring out from inside the mall early today as Kenyan security forces battled Al Qaeda-linked terrorists into a fourth day.

Despite Kenyan police assurances that they had taken control of the building, a security expert with contacts inside the mall said at least 10 hostages were still being held by a band of attackers, possibly as many as 13.

Student Faces Possible Year-Long Suspension From School For Playing With Toy Guns At Home

Comments Off on Student Faces Possible Year-Long Suspension From School For Playing With Toy Guns At Home

Don’t school officials have brains anymore? This is a toy he was playing with at HOME …it appears common sense is out the window with this school’s zero tolerance policy. If the school insists on suspension for a year, I believe I’d sue them. As you read this keep in mind: The children were suspended for possession, handling and use of a firearm.

Kahlid Caraballo is a 12-year-old, seventh-grade student living in Virginia Beach, VA. Kahlid and his friend, Aidan, were both playing with an airsoft gun in his yard while they waited for the school bus to arrive.

The two boys “shot” two other friends, and the school is now charging the two boys with “possession, use and handling of a firearm”.

The two young boys have been suspended from school since the incident occurred. Later this afternoon their parents are supposed to be informed whether or not they will remain suspended until next school year.

Kahlid tells reporters at Wavy-TV that he and his friends were not even at they bus-stop. “We were in our yard. This had nothing to do with school,” says Kahlid.

Tim Cook, Aidan’s father, told reporters that the toy never left private property and that what happened to his son lacks common sense. (it sure does!)

Are toy guns firearms? Is it the school’s responsibility to probe into what children do in their own home?  Let us know below-
