A Personal Thought

Comments Off on A Personal Thought

I just got off the phone with Congressman Stephen Finchers office. Allow me a moment to rant. Stephen Fincher may be a lot of things, but what he’s been labeled in a blog called the Wonkette is totally ridiculous – almost as ridiculous as the screen name “Doktor Zoom” that he hides behind. I almost put the link up, but I’m not going to get into an argument with a fool, they generally drag you down to their level.  Not only is Stephen Fincher my congressman,  I don’t always agree with his opinions, heck he may even strain me when I get ready to vote. He can tell you that himself, he’s sit through several with me screaming at him, but I have to say he always listens. One thing you cannot challenge is that he is a Christian, he thinks and acts like one, and it’s really hard to do in the cesspool that he’s in. I hear what a lot of people don’t get a chance to hear, sometimes on, sometimes off the record.

This idiot has an opinion. It’s wrong. He claims there’s proof. Really? Anything can be spun. No matter what happens in Washington, I believe that Stephen believes that he is representing the best interests of his constituents. He stands up for his values, he doesn’t always choose what I think he should, but maybe we should call and encourage sometime instead of throwing trash that he doesn’t deserve.

Argue with his politics, I do. Argue that he isn’t conservative or libertarian enough to suit you. That’s fine, but unless  you know what you’re talking about, I’d stay away from personal attacks unless you know the man.

I do, I will vouch for him on that front. He is a fine upstanding man who is in an almost unimaginable hell. Our country needs more Stephen Finchers. Not because we agree on everything, but we agree that he is trying to do right because of his values and his love for the country.

Sure, make your juicy headline. Just make sure you know what you’re talking about.

Could This Be the Forewarn to Civil Unrest and Martial Law?

Are you ready for a rocky election? Hope so, DHS is…

The Department of Homeland Security has ordered masses of riot gear equipment to prepare for potential significant domestic riots at the Republican National Convention, Democratic National Convention and next year’s presidential inauguration.

The DHS submitted a rushed solicitation to the Federal Business Opportunities site on Wednesday, which is a portal for Federal government procurement requisitions over $25,000. The request gave the potential suppliers only one day to submit their proposals and a 15-day delivery requirement to Alexandria, Virginia.

As the brief explains, “the objective of this effort is to procure riot gear to prepare for the 2012 Democratic and Republican National Conventions, the 2013 Presidential Inauguration and other future similar activities.”

The total amount ordered is about 150 sets of riot helmets, thigh and groin protectors, hard-shell shin guards and other riot gear.

Specifically, DHS is looking to obtain:

– “147 riot helmets” with “adjustable tactical face shield with liquid seal”

“147 sets of upper body and shoulder protection”

– “152 sets of thigh and groin protection”

– “147 hard-shell shin guards” with “substantial protection from flying debris, non-ballistic weapons, and blows to the leg” and “optimized protective design for severe riot control or tactical situations.”

– “156 forearm protectors”

– “147 pairs of tactical gloves”

The riot gear will be worn by Federal Protective Service agents who are tasked with protecting property, grounds and buildings owned by the federal government.

The urgency of the order can be explained by the fact that there is a growing anticipation that many demonstrators will travel to the Republican National Convention (RNC), scheduled for August 27-30 in Tampa Bay, Florida, and Democratic National Convention (DNC), planned for September 3-6 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The RNC itself, for example, will have free speech zones, which will serve as containment quarters for the protesters by not allowing them to leave the designated areas and cause trouble.

Another recent DHS move to gear up was back in March of this year, when it gave the defense contractor ATK a deal to provide the DHS with 450 million .40 caliber hollow-point ammunition over a five year period.

On top of that, the DHS has recently purchased a number of bullet-proof checkpoint booths and hired hundreds of new security guards to protect government buildings.

Even a Good Man Can’t Recover if the Swamp’s too Deep

How much more. I talked with someone who knows folks on the Herman Cain team today…they are totally dismayed and flabbergasted. Well, I’ll show you what he sent me.

I have friends that have worked with and for Cain at different points in his Career and on the campaign trail and not one of them ever saw anything that would make them think this stuff was true, and at least someone would ya know.  People have been coming out of the wood work backing Cain that know him and that says ALOT.

I agree, why does everything hinge on the National Restaurant Association? Why only during that time? Oh, and the time period that the affair with Ginger White  was supposed to be going was while Herman Cain was at his most virile…colon cancer surgery and recovery.

Here is Mr. Cain’s statement in the National Review:

“This is cause for reassessment,” Mr. Cain said, according to one participant on the call who spoke on condition of anonymity. “During the summer we had to make some reassessments based on our financial situation. We were able to hang in there.”

Mr. Cain denied the accusations from the Atlanta woman, Ginger White. But he acknowledged that the latest report of sexual misconduct might be more difficult to overcome, considering that the first voting is set to take place in five weeks at the Iowa caucuses. He said that he had not lost his enthusiasm to run, but suggested it was a distraction thatcould be difficult to recover from.

“With this latest one, we have to do an assessment as to whether or not this is going to create too much of a cloud in some peoples’ minds as to whether or not they should support us going forward,” Mr. Cain said, according to the participant on the call.

Mr. Cain doesn’t deserve the instant conclusions, and it’s a shame that his candidacy has been destroyed without the first iota of proof, but that seems to be what this country is all about now, you’re guilty until proven innocent. Well, at least in politics.

Another issue, I did like Michelle Bachmann, but her camp sent a tweet about moving vans moving in.

Reporters flocked to Herman Cain’s Iowa headquarters in Urbandale Tuesday night after Michele Bachmann’s state chairman tweeted that moving trucks were sitting outside the offices of a candidate who said he’s “reassessing” his campaign.

The catch: They weren’t moving trucks, but delivery trucks full of campaign signs.

The Bachmann aide, Iowa Sen. Kent Sorenson tweeted: “Moving trucks at Herman Cains office in

Bachmann’s Iowa office is in the same office complex as Cain’s.

The Des Moines Register arrived at the offices at 8550 New York Ave. to find more than 3,000 campaign signs leaning in the entryway and first reported it. A volunteer sat on the floor in the room, putting the signs together.

A tweet from Cain’s Iowa chairman, Steve Grubbs, came shortly after: Not moving trucks, delivery trucks with signs…want one?

“I kind of want to say it’s karma, but I shouldn’t,” said Cain’s Iowa spokeswoman, Lisa Lockwood. “People should not jump to conclusions.”

Sorenson deleted his tweet and its attached photo later that night, but not before Gov. Terry Branstad spokesman Tim Albrecht caught it.

We know politics is dirty, but that was a very cheap shot from someone who calls herself a passionate conservative.

Expect Chicago style politics out of the Republican camps…even before they get into the dirt with Obama.

At least Newt Gingrich has had the class not to get into mudslinging. He has said from the first that the party needed to be focused on getting the current White House cleaned out and not petty digs on the party. Looks like he’s the only one that remembers Reagan’s 11th rule.

When questioned about what will come out about him…

I’m reminded of a favorite quote of mine… “When you’re up to your ass in alligators, it’s hard to remember your original task was to drain the swamp”

Keep your chin up Mr. Cain, there are some of us who need to see some hard proof!

You know, Juan usually argues against everything conservative, but not this time…this is one of the better defenses of what happened to Herman Cain with this vicious attack on his character…I have to say “attaboy” to Juan on this one….
