Piers Morgan: Now I see U.S. government tyranny

Comments Off on Piers Morgan: Now I see U.S. government tyranny

Well maybe that Red Coat Piers Morgan is coming around to seeing the light……maybe! Vaguely tyrranical? That’s like being a little bit pregnant.

British CNN host Piers Morgan finally admitting gun advocates have a point when they say the Second Amendment is to protect citizens from tyrannical government?

Morgan has made headlines for many months as he loudly trumpeted the cause of gun control, even to the detriment of his shows ratings.

Now – after learning of the Obama administration’s involvement in the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups and its secret seizure of Associated Press phone records – the CNN host admitted to guest Penn Jillette that perhaps gun advocates were right about creeping tyranny after all:

“I’ve had some of the pro-gun lobbyists on here, saying to me, ‘Well, the reason we need to be armed is because of tyranny from our own government,’ and I’ve always laughed at them,” Morgan said. “I said, ‘Don’t be ridiculous! Your government won’t turn itself on you. …

“But, actually, this is vaguely tyrannical behavior by the American government.”

He continued, “I think what the IRS did is bordering on tyrannical behavior. I think what the Department of Justice has done to the AP is bordering on tyrannical behavior.”

Jillette agreed with Morgan, stating, “There’s no doubt about that. Once you use the word ‘bordering,’ that’s true.

“I also think that it shows you that how much we can trust the government and just sit back– which is not very much at all. We have to be ever vigilant.”

No Assault Rifle Found At Sandy Hook Massacre

Comments Off on No Assault Rifle Found At Sandy Hook Massacre

Piers Morgan keeps giving out false info on the Sandy Hook shooting. He says the killer used an AR-15 in the school shooting, but that is false as we see from the NBC video that day. But what would you expect from Piers Morgan who faked photos of British soldiers in his paper there The Daily Mirror, where he was the editor and lost his job because of it. Then you expect us here in America to trust anything he says?  The media has changed their story on Sandy Hook from handguns used to an AR-15 was used, but you can see in the video it was found in the trunk, not in the school.

18 Facts That Prove That Piers Morgan Is Flat Out Lying About Gun Control

Piers Morgan is getting on television every night and flat out lying to the American people about gun control.  Nearly every statistic that he quotes is inaccurate and he fails to acknowledge a whole host of statistics that would instantly invalidate the arguments that he is trying to make.  Yes, the UK has a lower gun murder rate than the United States does, but what Piers Morgan fails to tell you is that the overall rate of violent crime in the UK is about 4 times higher than it is in the United States.  A woman in the UK is not allowed pull out a gun to protect herself against a gang of potential rapists.  So perhaps that explains why the UK has about 125 percent more rape victims per 100,000 people than the United States does.  While UK newspapers are declaring that the UK has become the “violent crime capital of Europe”, crime rates in the United States have actually fallen dramatically over the past 20 years.  This was also a time period during which gun laws became much less restrictive in the United States.  Today, murder rates in the U.S. are generally far higher in cities that have very strict gun control laws (such as Chicago) than they are for the general population.  The cold, hard numbers make it clear that when there are more guns there is less crime, but hardcore leftists such as Piers Morgan are absolutely obsessed with gun control and Morgan continues to relentlessly attack the 2nd Amendment night after night.  We need to start pointing out that he is not telling the truth.

The following are 18 facts that prove that Piers Morgan is flat out lying about gun control…

#1 The UK has approximately 125 percent more rape victims per 100,000 people each year than the United States does.

#2 The UK has approximately 133 percent more assault victims per 100,000 people each year than the United States does.

#3 Piers Morgan continues to insist that there are more than 11,000 gun murders in the United States every year.  But that is flat out wrong.  According to the FBI, there were 8,583 gun murders in the United States during 2011.  And as Ben Swann recently pointed out, 400 of those were justifiable homicides by law enforcement and 260 of those were justifiable homicides by private citizens.

#4 The United States is #1 in the world in gun ownership, and yet it is only 28thin the world in gun murders per 100,000 people.

#5 The violent crime rate in the United States actually fell from 757.7 per 100,000 in 1992 to 386.3 per 100,000 in 2011.  During that same time period, the murder rate fell from 9.3 per 100,000 to 4.7 per 100,000.  This was during an era when gun laws in the United States generally became much less restrictive.

#6 The city of Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the United States.  So has this reduced crime?  Of course not.  As I wrote about the other day, the murder rate in Chicago was about 17 percent higher in 2012 than it was in 2011, and Chicago is now considered to be “the deadliest global city“.  If you can believe it, there were about as many murders in Chicago during 2012 as there was in the entire nation of Japan.

#7 After the city of Kennesaw, Georgia passed a law requiring every home to have a gun, the crime rate dropped by more than 50 percent over the course of the next 23 years.

#8 Approximately 200,000 women in the United States use guns to protect themselves against sexual crime every single year.

#9 Overall, guns in the United States are used 80 times more often to prevent crime than they are to take lives.

#10 Only about 3.5 percent of the gun murders in the United States are caused by rifles.

#11 According to Gallup, an all-time record 74 percent of all Americans are against a total handgun ban in the United States.

#12 Down in Australia, gun murders increased by about 19 percent and armed robberies increased by about 69 percent after a gun ban was instituted.

#13 When Piers Morgan claims that there are only 35 gun murders in the UK per year, he isn’t exactly being accurate.  According to official statistics, there were59 gun murders in the UK in 2011.  It is also important to keep in mind that gun crime was already super low even before the gun ban in the UK was instituted, and that a 2009 article in The Telegraph declared that gun crime had doubledover the past decade even though it is widely acknowledged that crime statistics in the UK are massively underreported.

#14 The UK has the fourth highest burglary rate in the EU.

#15 The UK has the second highest overall crime rate in the EU.

#16 A 2009 article in The Telegraph had this stunning headline: “UK is violent crime capital of Europe“.

#17 Despite the very strict ban on guns in the UK, the truth is that the UK is a far more violent society than the United States is.  In one recent year, there were2,034 violent crimes per 100,000 people in the UK.  In the United States, there were only 466 violent crimes per 100,000 people during that same year.  Do we really want to be more like the UK?

#18 According to Gun Owners of America, the governments of the world slaughtered more than 170 million of their own people during the 20th century.  The vast majority of those people had been disarmed by their own governments prior to being slaughtered.

But you won’t hear many of these statistics on the mainstream news, will you?

In fact, right now there seems to be some sort of a nationwide backlash against gun advocates.  A few high profile gun advocates have even ended up dead in recent days.

Is British Crime Rate Really as Low as Piers Morgan Claims

Comments Off on Is British Crime Rate Really as Low as Piers Morgan Claims

The answer is no they aren’t. If you been watching the debates on CNN by Piers Morgan, you know he attempts to relate gun control to low crime rates and murders in the UK, but we know by the UK’s on admission at the Sunday Telegraph that Morgan is wrong. Since Piers Morgan is an intelligent man, I have to assume he knows these facts and chooses to ignore them in order to get his gun control agenda to be accepted by the American people. So here are the facts from the UK themselves, not Piers Morgan.

The number of violent crimes in England per person compared to America is significantly higher. England is a far more violent place than America, despite having a total gun ban. (see chart below)

Figures from the EU Commission and the UN show that the number of violent crimes per 100,000 residents in England is around 2,000 compared to just 466 in America. For all Piers Morgan’s claims about the proliferation of guns leading to an increase in violence, it’s four times safer to live in American than England and according to the latest FBI statistics, America’s violent crime rate continues to fall.

Gun crime 60pc higher than official figures…

The true level of gun crime is far higher than the Government admits in official statistics, it can be revealed.

Last year 5,600 firearms offences were excluded from the official figures. It means that, whereas the Home Office said there were only 9,800 offences in 2007/8, the real total was around 15,400. The latest quarterly figures, due to be released on Thursday, will again exclude a significant number of incidents.

The explanation for the gulf is that the Government figures only include cases where guns are fired, used to “pistol whip” victims, or brandished as a threat.

Thousands of offences including gun-smuggling and illegal possession of a firearm – which normally carries a minimum five-year jail sentence – are omitted from the Home Office’s headline count, raising questions about the reliability of Government crime data.

Dominic Grieve, the shadow home secretary, said: “These alarming new figures not only highlight the appalling state of gun crime in this country, but also remind us just how poor the Government’s statistics actually are.

“Crime statistics must also be compiled and published independent of the Home Office, and crime mapping rolled out so that people can have confidence in what they are being told about the state of crime in this country.”

Chris Huhne, the Liberal Democrat home affairs spokesman, said the figures revealed the extent to which gun crime is a “scar on society”.

“It is shocking that the Home Office is in denial about the extent of gun crime by refusing to include offences where a gun is present but not brandished,” he said.

“This is another strong reason why the Home Office should not be in charge of collecting its own statistics, which should be put directly under the responsibility of the Office for National Statistics.

“Gun crime must be treated with the same seriousness and concern as knife crime. Both are a scar on our society.”

In all, there were at least 5,612 offences excluded from the Home Office’s official gun crime total last year, according to figures supplied by police forces.

The true total number of excluded offences will have been even higher, because two of the 43 forces in England and Wales, Thames Valley and Leicestershire, failed to hand over their data when asked to do so under the Freedom of Information Act, and a large urban force, Greater Manchester, provided incomplete statistics. Scotland records gun crime differently.

When the Home Office publishes its latest quarterly crime figures on Thursday, they will include a section on gun crime injuries and deaths, but the figures will again exclude a significant number of incidents.

The Sunday Telegraph‘s figures suggest that the Metropolitan Police’s official tally of 3,300 gun crimes in 2006/7, the most recent available, would have risen to around 5,000 if excluded categories had been counted. In 2007, Met officers dealt with 1,678 firearms incidents which were not included in the official tally. The Met’s figures show that offences of firearms possession in the capital rose from 850 five years ago to 1,400 last year.

After the Met, the second-highest number of offences excluded from the official statistics was recorded by West Midlands Police with 404, taking the force’s true annual total of gun crimes to around 1,400.

“Firearms offences are comparatively rare in Britain, and the vast majority thankfully do not result in a serious or fatal injury. But if the police already collect this information it is difficult to understand why it should not be put routinely into the public domain.”

The Sunday Telegraph also recently revealed that knife crime figures were at least two-thirds higher than official figures.

Police statistics showed forces in England and Wales are on course to record 38,000 serious knife crimes this year, or more than 100 a day, compared with last year’s official total of 22,151 offences, a figure announced by the Home Office in July in its first annual count of knife crimes.

White House is wrong: First Amendment doesn’t protect Piers Morgan from deportation

Comments Off on White House is wrong: First Amendment doesn’t protect Piers Morgan from deportation

White House press secretary Jay Carney issued a factually incorrect response Wednesday to the White House petition to deport British-born CNN host Piers Morgan, wrongly claiming that Morgan, who has launched repeated televised attacks on the Second Amendment, is protected from deportation by the First Amendment.

“Let’s not let arguments over the Constitution’s Second Amendment violate the spirit of its First,” Carney wrote in response to the petition, which has collected more than 100,000 signatures from patriotic Americans.

“President Obama believes that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms. However, the Constitution not only guarantees an individual right to bear arms, but also enshrines the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press — fundamental principles that are essential to our democracy,” Carney wrote.

However, as the Daily Caller reported in December, the First Amendment does not protect Morgan from possible deportation in this case.

Wall Street Journal columnist James Taranto explained on Twitter December 22 the legal precedent that prevents Morgan from citing the First Amendment to protect his status in the United States:

“Your opinion is protected, your presence in the U.S. is not. See Kleindienst v. Mandel (1972),” Taranto replied to Morgan.

Taranto linked to transcripts from a 1972 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that the U.S. Attorney General’s refusal to allow a foreign journalist into the United States did not violate the First Amendment. The case resulted from Nixon administration attorney general Richard Kleindienst’s refusal to grant a temporary nonimmigrant visa to Marxist Belgian journalist Ernest Mandel.

GOA’s Larry Pratt DESTROYS CNN’s Piers Morgan on CT Shooting

Comments Off on GOA’s Larry Pratt DESTROYS CNN’s Piers Morgan on CT Shooting

Piers Morgan (a foreigner) is schooled by Larry Prat of Gun Owners of America. Piers shows his ignorance/ arrogance and lack of concern about the facts that show more guns equals less crime.

Piers Morgan to Larry Pratt, “You’re an unbelievably stupid man, aren’t you?”

Mr. Pratt did not take the bait, calmly continuing to elucidate his argument. “It seems to me you are morally obtuse,” he told Mr. Morgan. “You seem to prefer being a victim to being able to prevail over the criminal element. I don’t know why you want to be the criminal’s friend.”

To which Mr. Morgan responded: “What a ridiculous argument. You have absolutely no coherent argument. You don’t actually give a damn about the gun murder rate in America.” (Mr Morgan said this after completely ignoring the facts presented by Larry Pratt, obviously showing his bias.)

A commentor said:

Piers Morgan cannot counter the arguments Pratt uses so his reaction is to call him stupid and his argument ridiculous.

Apparently, the argument that violent crime rates in areas where guns are allowed (as opposed to cities like Chicago with strict gun laws) are much lower in America than Europe is a “rather tortured argument.”

This passes for a civilized debate and “tough sledding” in Amerika. Politically correct emotions rule the day, not logic.

…Folks Steve has been saying for some time now, they are coming after our guns…your seeing the beginning of it now. If they are successsful , then we’re in deep trouble. Worse than you worse nightmare will shortly follow.

Here is one example of what Larry Pratt is talking about that Piers Morgan doesn’t want to see or you to see….

25 years murder-free in ‘Gun Town USA’

Crime rate plummeted after law
required firearms for residents

Also listen to Diane Feinstein from I think it was 1995 and what she did when threatened. She said she “made the determination that  if someone was going to take me out, I was going to take them with me”, what a hypocrite……but today she wants you to turn in your guns to the government. Yes she not only wants a ban on semi automatic weapons and large magazines, she wants everyone that has one to be forced by law to turn them in to the government. Speaking about her bill to be introduced in Congress next session she said, “It will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession, not retroactively, but prospectively,” and ban the sale of clips of more than ten bullets, Feinstein said. “The purpose of this bill is to get… weapons of war off the streets.” (And I’m sure all criminals will abide by this new law…aren’t you?)
